Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

Short version: the images you use and the text extracted from them stay on your device. There are no accounts. The site uses Google Analytics to understand visits and is supported by Google AdSense ads; both may use cookies as described below.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the ImageToText OCR website at imgtotextocr.com, an independent project maintained by the owner of the image-to-text-ocr GitHub repository.

Your images and extracted text

  • Images you add are read and processed by JavaScript running in your own browser.
  • Images and extracted text are not uploaded to this website, to the maintainer, or to any OCR service.
  • Images are kept in your browser’s memory only while the page is open. Closing or reloading the page, or choosing Clear all, removes them.
  • When you choose Copy text or Download TXT, the text goes to your clipboard or to a file on your device.

Information stored in your browser

  • Theme preference: if you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage under the key itt-theme.
  • OCR language data cache: the Tesseract.js library saves downloaded language files (for example eng.traineddata) in your browser’s IndexedDB storage so they don’t have to be downloaded again. These are public data files and contain nothing about you.

You can delete both at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings. This website’s own code does not set cookies; Google Analytics and Google AdSense may set cookies as described below.

Third-party services

jsDelivr CDN

The open-source OCR engine (Tesseract.js), its language data and, for TIFF files only, a TIFF decoder are downloaded from the public jsDelivr content delivery network. As with any web request, jsDelivr receives technical information such as your IP address, browser user agent and the files requested. Your images are not sent to jsDelivr. See jsDelivr’s privacy policy.

Hosting (Vercel)

The website is hosted by Vercel. When you load a page, Vercel processes standard request information such as your IP address, approximate location derived from it, and browser details in order to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Vercel’s privacy notice.

GitHub

Links to the source code and to the issue tracker lead to GitHub, which has its own privacy statement. Anything you post in a GitHub issue is public.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This website uses Google AdSense to show ads. The AdSense script is loaded from Google’s servers on each page, and Google receives standard request information such as your IP address, browser details and the page you are viewing.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
  • Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Where the law requires it (for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), you will be asked for consent through Google’s consent message before personalized ads are shown.

Ads run separately from the converter: the images you process and the text you extract are never shared with Google or any advertiser.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

This website uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how many people visit, which pages they view, roughly where they come from (country/region) and what device and browser they use. Google Analytics uses cookies or similar identifiers and receives your IP address, which Google uses to derive approximate location and does not store in Google Analytics. Only page views are measured: your images and extracted text are never sent to Google Analytics.

For visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage are disabled by default until you give consent. You can also block Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Children

The website is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
